Vista and MCE 2005 remote

Why wont it work 16:38 11 Feb 2007

Hi, I have not been able to find an answer to this by googling, so I thought someone here might know. My laptop came with a standard (not one of the various custom oem ones) Microsoft MCE remote for MCE 2005. I was wondering if this will work with the media centre within Vista Home Premium, or will (typically!) I need a new one? Thanks

I don't see why it shouldn't work, but I wouldn't swear to it.

I agree with KateB, the Media Center bits of Vista look very much the same to me.

Since if you bought MCE with a new PC with a free upgrade the upgrade was to Vista Premium I would hope the answer would be yes.
But I don't know.

thanks. I was thinking that they looked very similar too (saw it in a shop). I agree, it should work since the pc was sold as vista premium capable and came with a voucher for it, but alas you never know!

I have a newly built Vista Home Premium system sharing peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse, MCE remote) via a KVM switch with a XP MCE machine and the Windows MCE remote works fine on both machines.

But your mileage may vary ...
