sound recording problem in Windows 10

  KeithMH 15:05 12 May 2018

Since the latest big update for Windows 10, whenever I try to record using MP3DirectCut, I get the message "Could not open wave/audio device". If I try using Audacity, I get a different message, but the same result - no go!

Can anyone throw any light, please?

Right click the sound icon on notification area and select 'sounds', select the recording tab and check if 'stereo mix' is enabled. If you can't see it right click a blank space and tick both boxes. If it's there then enable it. If missing altogether then try rolling back your driver.

Many thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, Stereo Mix disappeared from the options a long time ago. I've been using Vitual Audio Cable to record streamed material since, and it's worked well, until this latest Windows 10 update.
