Site can't be reached via internet on Dell laptop?

My Dell i5 laptop is having the above problem. Any suggestion please. On the task bar it says connected to the internet via my router at full strength but when trying to connect to any website it says not connected to the internet. Tried sites such as eBay, Amazon, Facebook etc. to no avail. I have also re-entered my router password and the same problem persists. What is going on? Then the router would appear to disconnect. Running problem solver recovers the internet connection BUT still won't connect to sites and the problem repeats itself.

Rick, if you're using Windows 8 or 10 then the first thing to do is to click the Power icon then choose Restart. Shutting down then turning the computer back on will have no affect.

Thanks for replies. Have tried the suggestions, still the same. Think I'll replace the wifi card, probably faulty and it's not expensive

Seems sorted now. I took out the card to have a look at the specs. After re-seating it, it now zooms along happily. Strange as it was securely seated in the first place.

Seems sorted now.

That's a relief. Thanks for letting us know.
