Restore from file history Win 10

  TOFF 19:33 24 Dec 2015

One of my HDDs crashed and with it all my photos and docs. However it was all backed up into File history on an external drive. I also decided to upgrade my machine and so have a new blank HDD and need to restore ALL my files to the new drive. There is clearly no link between the old and new drives so how do I tell Windows to do this? Windows Help is not good on this as it seems only to deal in individual files. I can find the files in the File history but they have their old names plus some other bracketed designation presumably generated by Windows. I want to dump the whole lot back. Is it just drag and drop or does Windows have a more refined process? Any suggestions gratefully accepted. Thanks and Happy Christmas.

Not sure but the video says you can restore files or folders. Have a look here .

Next time I would use something like Macrium free. .

Thank you. I'll try it but I'm not sure if it will allow me to dump the lot.
