Recovering Oversized Windows in Windows 10

  SidCowans33 16:42 09 Jul 2020

I have a decent 2K monitor but I've given up running at optimal resolution because the size of the text is just too small to read (I know I can change that in some cases but not in all). I've lowered the resolution to a more comfortable setting but now I've got a lot of windows that drop off the bottom of the screen which means I can't resize them and get them fully on screen !

I have tried using the taskbar to tile the open windows but as soon as I switch that mode off, I lose the bottom of the window again. In some cases, I simply can't run processes because the action button is off the screen and can't be reached !

Help ?

Couple of quick questions:

What size is your monitor?

Are you talking about displaying at Full Screen Window or Reduced Window?

What Program are you using when this problem occurs?

.............because the size of the text is just too small to read ............I've lowered the resolution........

That's not the best solution Sid because it'll make everything blurry.

Change the monitor's resolution back to its recommended resolution then head over to Settings -> Display and change the scaling in the "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" section. Photos and videos will display at their correct scaling but text and most other objects will be bigger and more comfortable on the eyes.

I think I've resolved this now by selecting the over-sized windows and right clicking taskbar to select SIZE ...... after which keyboard arrows will shrink the window to fit !!!

Thanks for your comments secret-squirrel but those controls - which I was aware of - only impact on Windows and windows apps. I'm a professional photographer and use Adobe Photoshop a lot which has the smallest of text at 2K resolution and is not impacted by the controls you have suggested.
