Hello all,

I recently have been having problems with sending/receiving mails using MS Outlook (2003 version). The program hangs and I receive the error message that the program has encountered a problem and will close. Sometimes it restarts but the send/receive issue still remains. Please help.

Hi,

Please try the below mentioned steps:

  • First disable Outlook Addins. Go to Tools > Options > Other > Advanced Options > Addin Manager or COMM/Addins and disable the addins
  • Now, check any external program running in the background is interfering the Outlook or not. Check Firewall, antispyware, antivirus, antispam and all Norton programs. Disable all of them
  • Close the Outlook Application and start it again

In case the above-mentioned steps does not resolve the issue, then you need to create a new Outlook profile. Follow these steps to create a new Outlook profile

  • Close Outlook. Open Control Panel & find the Mail applet. If you use the Category view in Windows's Control Panel, look for the Mail applet in the User Accounts category, or type Mail in the search field
  • After this select the show profiles button. (Email Account & Data Files buttons open the Account Settings dialog for the default profile)
  • Tap on Add button to create a new profile. Don't copy existing profile when you are creating a profile for troubleshooting purposes
  • Follow the wizard to add an account to your new profile
