New laptop with windows 8 but.... would like windows 7

Bought new windows 8 laptop but really would prefer windows 7. IF I bought full windows 7 and tried to install, would pc 'see' win 7 as an 'update'? Really don't like windows 8 much at all but could only buy win8. Can someone explain to me how I could do this, if I can at all? Thanks

No windows would not, it does not like to go backwards.

If its just the tiles you don't like, install Classic shell to windows 8.1 and it acts very much like windows 7

And set it to boot straight to desktop

When you say Windows 8, have you updated to windows 8.1?

I bought a new small laptop for a young relative which only had w8. It took me 2 1/2 days to fully update it to W8.1 and delete the "" folder, add antivirus etc, but in the end, although my own PC's are Windows 7 only, even I was able to handle the Windows 8.1 after all updates.

I agree also with *Fruit Bat /\0/* above.

I suppose you could totally format the PC and install w7 but I would suggest persisting with FB's ideas
