installing 7 SATA HDD with Asus P5QL Pro M/board

Evening and HAPPY New Year All!

Ok, Finally after getting my PSU diangosed as faulty, the RMA replaced (3 months) I am now ready to install my Windows 7 Pro 64bit OEM on a SATA HDD which the Motherboard has a Asus P5QL Pro Motherboard in.

I have read somewhere, something relating to a AHCI Driver and have seen this option in the BIOS. Can someone please enlighten me if I have AHCI as enabled and what do I do to install AHCI Driver. Is it a F6 install or as my CPU is a Quad Core 9550 2.83GHz its something I install within windows.

Thanks for any help in advance.

I am not sure I fully understand what your question is but unless you specifically need AHCI, have a look here: click here
and here click here just go ahead and install windows.

You answer my questions, I didn't know what AHCI was actually for. The advantage of NCQ would be good but Raid I don't use. Seems only to be a marginal increase in performance so I will leave it as IDE only option on SATA.

Maybe in another year if I do a clean install I might try it out.

Thanks for posting and all the best for 2010!

See you again in the Forum maybe.
