right i think many laptops are getting this cause i read up on it but i got vista the other day and went to install it its windows vista ultimate i did an upgrade (not a clean install) and it got to completing upgrade stayed on 48% for a while then rebooted i thought it was done but then it said ndisrd.sys is missing or corrupt i tried installing vista sevral times and same outcome would a clean install be better but i dont want to wait all that time again with same outcome so does a clean install work or not

Back up your files and try a clean install, it usually works for those who fail with the upgrade route.

It will require a valid version of XP to be present.
