How do I load W7 onto Vista laptop

  aphrodite42 16:43 27 Apr 2019

I have been given a USB stick with W7 operating system on it and would like to load this onto a redundant Vista laptop that I have. I recall that the laptop is W7 compatible but never got round to converting it but now seems a good time to have a go. What is the process? Do I just plug the USB stick in and will it guide me through? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Annabelle

You will need a valid/genuine windows 7 product key.

I have that.

As no way of knowing what form of W7 is on the usb you have been given, can't tell you in advance what will come up on desktop.

Suggest you read through guides on click here

And maybe think about using W7 key for upgrade to W10 as per this thread click here

Thanks lotvic. I have looked at the reinstall link and it looks to be very helpful. Will have a go when I have time, if it doesn't work I have lost nothing.
