DVD and HDD: master/ slave configuraion.

  Skywaver 17:34 18 Mar 2018

During a recent installation of an Intel motherboard, Intel state "Do not connect an ATA device as a slave on the same cable as an ATAPI master device. For example, do not connect an ATA hard drive as a slave to an ATAPI CD-ROM drive."

Apart from the fact that Intel do not say why one should not do that, in that scenario I have always set the HDD as master and a CD-ROM (or a DVD) as the slave, and have not experienced any problems in so doing. So, am I missing something or have misunderstood something here?
