Dual monitor resolution

  Awestruck 10:52 07 Jan 2010

I am a web designer and I like to test my products on various screen resolutions. I have a 1024 x 786 monitor connected to a computer set to 1336 x 786.

Both show a resolution of 1024 x 786. If I change the main monitor to 1336 x 786 the external monitor shows only the wallpaper.

Can you help please?

When you are in the Display>screen Resolution window does "multiple displays" say Extend these displays?

hello anskyber
Thank you for the prompt reply

Yes it does say Extend These displays.

I have explored that but still end up with just the wallpaper on the external monitor when I set the laptop monitor to 1366 x 768.

The only alternative seems to be 1024 x 768 on both screens which defeats the object.

Don't give up, it can be done. I have my laptop (1280*800) and an external monitor 1920*1080 showing in the correct format for each screen BUT not at the same time. I found you had to select either Monitor 1 or Monitor 2 and not Monitor 1 and Monitor 2 at the same time. I just switch between them with an ALT/F Fey combination (or pull the external monitor lead).
