Drag and drop files in Vista

  nickhick 10:59 18 Jan 2008

This useful function has now stopped working in my Windows Vista laptop. If I try to drag and drop files within the system, or to and external backup drive a window comes up telling me that 'Windows explorer has stopped working and must restart' or words to that effect.
I know that problems with Windows explorer are widely reported with Vista but not with the drag and drop function.

Any comments or help would be gratefully received.

I had understood that D and D was not available in Vista so I'm interested to learn you have been using it.

I should add other than within a partition.

Anskyber, you surprise me! Why would this facility not be available, as it worked from September last year (when laptop purchased) until just after Christmas. I used it for, say, dragging files from 'Documents' onto a 2GB USB stick. Since then, it stopped working but did start again but has now stopped working.
