Hello, sorry if this is not the correct area, but iv been having this issue with my laptop. Eveytime I try to install the Windows 10 anniversary update, it downloads then it requires my PC to restart to install the updates.

After the computer restarts and installes the PC just sits on a black screen with the windows 10 loading symbol for hours and hours and never boots back up. Only way I have got back on to my computer is by hard resetting it enough times to were it says "restoring to a previous Windows" then the PC starts up normal without the new update installed.

I previously did a factory restore to see if that would help but it's doing the same thing.

My PC is the hp dv7-6c95dx

Maybe start by going to disk clean up and running that. Once that has finished another box will open click on to clean up system files and see how much space it removes.

Make sure Windows Firewall is running.

And maybe better being connected via an ethernet connection.

And maybe have a look at this post from rdave13.

Have you checked with HP that your model is suitable for a Win 10 upgrade. You can do so on this page Click Here
