"Computer" desk top icon

  Severn Bore 19:39 07 Jan 2011

I use Photoshop Lightroom, but as Win 7 no longer has the My Computer folder on the Desktop I cannot make a backup copy of up0loaded photos straight into an external drive while importing them. It seems I need to get "Computer" into a folder on the desktop to do this.
I can get a Computer icon onto the desktop simply enough, but the system will not allow me to place it within a folder.
Has anyone any idea how I could do this please?

once you have computer on your desktop simply right click it and select "create shortcut" the new shortcut that appears can be put anywhere ,in a folder ,even on another drive and it will work as it has a full path to the real computer folder.
but I am curious ,why on earth would any app require this .it simply does not make sense.

To put Computer/User,s files/Recycle bin desktop icons on Win7. Right click desktop select personalise/desktop icons.

If you have created a folder within a folder and want it showing on desktop. Right click on the folder and select send to/Desktop(create shortcut).
