Blank CDs Aren't Recognised By Laptop

My laptop's having performance problems and I want to do a system reset, I got blank CDs and I try to place files on them but when I insert the CD it doesn't get recognised and it doesn't turn up on "This PC". I've already got files on the CD and I deleted them from my laptop's hard drive so I don't want to system reset with the chance of having some things removed. I insert the disk and it spins for a while but then stops and it doesn't get recognised. I've looked everywhere and I don't know what to do.

Laptop: HP ENVY M6 - Win10

CD: Tesco DVD+R RW 4.7GB 16x

Any ideas on how to fix it is accepted. Thanks in advance!

I've already got files on the CD and I deleted them from my laptop's hard drive so

its not blank then? if its a RW DVD then its probably using a UDF file system

try formatting it if it is blank.

However RW disks are notorious for not being seen by a lot of writers.

Much better to back up to an external drive or USB.
