O/S?

i started with 3.1 then upgraded to windows 95 then 98.Then bought a new machine with XP installed.

I like XP but do find it a bit boring sometimes as nothing seems to go wrong with mine.

Still have some of my friends on 98, so I do get the chance to fiddle if they have a problem.

I wonder if anybody has upgraded then wished that they had'nt .

Are you happy with your operating system?

Have used DOS6/3.1, 95,98,Me (and went back to 98) then XP

Boring and nothing going wrong works for me
Had XP for 2 years and no major crashes just the odd unresponsive program.

My use of computers for anything other than serious or business use is small. I therefore need an operating system that is fast and reliable. Windows XP achieves this - almost.

I don't understand this attitude of XP being boring because nothing goes wrong. Surely an operating system of whichever type is a means to an end, not an end in itself. This being so, as near to absolute reliability is necessary. Do the people with this "boredom syndrome" sit at their machine willing, waiting or hoping for something untoward to happen so that they can enjoy putting it right?

Yes.
But I do realize that I am perhaps a bit strange.

Still, it takes all sorts.

XP is the only one I've used and no complaints - this could all change though after I install the SP2. Just got it on the magazine. :o)

I've used:

Windows 3.1, 3.3 (at school), 95 (briefly), 98 SE, 2000 Pro, ME (at school), XP Home, XP Pro and Linux Mandrake Move.

My favourite is Windows XP.
