What qualifications for a doctors receptionist?
In the past it was easy, all that was required was that you were blatantly rude.
Now it seems (probably EU directive) that you have to be grossly obese and grotesquely ugly also.
We have 4 different receptionists and 3 of them are really nice to talk to, you can chat to them have a joke and they will try to go out of their way to help.
The 4th one is from hell, her idea of help is to not talk to you, speak to her about an appointment to see the doctor and she will tell you that you aren't ill enough to see one.
I phoned for an appointment for my wife who suffers from bad Asthma and COPD and she tried to give me an appointment for 2 weeks in the future, it wasn't till I asked for her name so I could tell the hospital who was to blame for calling an ambulance she "found " a spare slot in the doctors list.
I will say she is not obese she just looks as if she is a bulldog chewing a wasp
I want it put on record that the receptionists at my Doctors surgery are very nice helpful people. They are different ages and looks but without exception are all very helpful, doing a demanding job. It must be hard to stay cool when dealing people who are not feeling at their best, and the just downright rude ones who think they should get priority.
