What aggravates you when traveling by train?

Commuters applying make-up is a major source of irritation to BBC News readers who wrote in about irksome train etiquette. But what's the problem, and is it really anyone's business how passengers spend their travel time? Personally I don't find such things irritating perhaps I am just too laidback. Perhaps the stress of regular rush hour public transport is as bad as it is made out to be.

The Foghorn Leghorn one that you find that you unwillingly know all about his personal life whether you want to or not by the time you arrive!

...even if you're sat at opposite ends of the carriage.

The Foghorn Leghorn

that is why some prefer to wear earphones. They may not be listening to music but screening out Foghorn Leghorn.

That they are rarely on time, used the train for 3 days work a couple of months ago as work location was just off platform.

5 out of the 6 journeys were late or cancelled.

The RMT, cancellations, delays, overcrowding, drunkeness, people shouting into their phones to name a few.

Who can afford to travel by train nowadays?

I sometimes wonder if people who have headphones on trains are wearing them inside out because I can hear what they are listening to ….. too * loud.

Some of you already know my wife is in a wheelchair , we very rarely use a train but if we do we have to book a slot so staff have the ramp to carriage ready.

We recently had a break in southport and one day we decided to go to blackpool by train instead of using the car , we could see blackpool tower from southport seafront.

We looked at train time table and discovered we would have had to change trains 3 times , as I say we could actually see blackpool in the distance. We decided to give it a miss because it would have meant booking 6 time slots that we would have had to stick to ….

The comments made here by others also apply to buses as free wifi has made room for more people to annoy you.

When we go out now we use park and ride as much as possible its a pleasant surprise to see more and more buses become wheelchair friendly.

I like train travel - I use trains quite often for longer journeys.

In the main, I avoid rush hours, and that removes a lot of potential irritations. I don't particularly like hearing other peoples' phone conversations, so I try to get a seat in the quiet carriages.

I like to count the number of sheep dotted about in the landscape although most times I nod off and then have to start all over again ... doh.
