Vista Aero interface means shorter battery life?

From Toms Hardware click here "The extra hardware and graphics activity drain the battery more quickly. Aero Graphics reduces battery life from say 3hrs with XP to 2hrs with Vista."

I'm not sure if their claim is exaggerated, but I'd prefer longer laptop battery life to Aero. At least we'll be able to turn Aero off.

They should make a version of Vista for laptops.

if apple laptops suffer from their os? It's not at all disimilar from Aero as far as I've seen in reports.

You can turn the aero effects off and revert to a classic gui, which would improve the batteries life.
