about the situation before you go any further.

Calling the Health Secretary 'a creep' isn't particularly clever. The moves to close the Whittington's A&E department wasn't initiated by him, it's an NHS matter, and was proposed as part of a wider, 4 year plan that involves other London hospitals.

It seems rather coincidence that the decision to halt the closure was taken less than 2 weeks before the general election. Perhaps I am being cynical.

However, the threat to other London A&E`s remain.

These will be raplced by Polyclinics, which are little more than GP surgeries.

Those of us that were around when the NHS was first introduced will remember all the little cottage hospitals that were around at the time, in fact when I started working in the NHS in 1991 there where two smaller hospitals that was merged into the main acute hospital. Now we seemed to be going full circle and getting back what amounts to the cottage hospitals in the form of Polyclinics which basically are going to do the same as what those old cottage hospitals used to do. As they say, what goes around comes around.
