do I have to inform the Inland revenue of my new status or is that all done away with the abolishion of Married mans allowance etc,.

Er, what "new status" ??

Are congratulation or commiserations in order?

If you have recently married and you and your wife are claiming no benefits, unless you were born in 1935 or earlier the Tax people dont care.
At retirement age, if each of you are entitled to the full OAP and are not claiming Pension Credit, again they don't care.

Clapton is God - Status - Single to married :)

Congrats!! BTW if you have any foreign pensions etc, they may wish to know. I got a b******ing from the Dutch OAP on this issue but the UK equivalent people were unintersted.
