MechKB 2 I see that you are using win 7 and Acronis, have you had any problems with Acronis. I ask because I have just replaced/upgraded to Win 7 and because my Acronis v 9.00 is not compatible thought to update to Acronis 2014, but on researching I found more negatives for it than positives. Which version are you using and have you found any problems in installing or using?

Sorry apologies I need to address that question to user Flak999,

Have you had any problems with Acronis. I ask because I have just replaced/upgraded to Win 7 and because my Acronis v 9.00 is not compatible thought to update to Acronis 2014, but on researching I found more negatives for it than positives. Hi all, I am using Win7 and Acronis without any problems. I certainly recommend Acronis. I make Full Backups of my hardrive roughly every two to three weeks, but always after any big update of Windows or of any of my paid-for programs. The backups are made directly to an external hard-drive which is used for that purpose only.

I never use Incremental or other types of backup, just Full Backups. I have also used Acronis Clone-to when upgrading/enlarging my internal hard-drive.

Security is covered by MSE/Malwarebytes Pro/Tune-up Utilities and much prudence when on-line etc.

I have paid-for versions of Nero Burning ROM - M'soft Office 2003 - SIW Pro - PDF Converter7 - and MFS(X), been using most for over ten years without any major hiccups.

I also use (All Pro versions and compatible with Win7) Digital Image Recovery, FastStone Capture, Magix Audio Cleaner Pro, Revo Uninstaller and Teamviewer.

All working superbly thanks to my BT Infinity5 Broadband.

PS - I always keep up-to-date latest versions with all my paid-for (Pro) programs.

Flak999

Updating my PC I was informed that Acronis 9 was incompatible with Win 7 However on checking the latest version I found many bad reports relating to the problems with Acronis 2014, I will try the 2011 version.

If you have a WD or Seagate HDD you can get a cut-down version of Acronis free of charge from WD or Seagate.
