Rising cost of HS2 per person.

They seem to be going on with HS2. Leaves me wondering what is the cost per head for each person in the Country. Tried Googling without success, just told it's paid for by the Government...

Toneman "just told it's paid for by the Government" But the government has no money of it's own only the money it gets from the taxpayer

Like it or not, the rail network will need major infrastructure renewal sometime this century. If we don't do it now, it'll cost more later.

This February it'll be 97 years since the first Flying Scotsman service ran, that was the HS2 of it's day, we haven't really improved on that a century on.

Where is the new dawn post Brexit we can do attitude?

Have we given up already?

Does this make me a glass half full HS2 supporter...

What they do not tell you is that is not the total price when you add in the northern section it is estimated to cost £230 Billion.

Now whether this is to dampen down other parts of the Uk that want to leave, as they will still have to pay their share of the Bill.

It does not go as far as Scotland but they will still be hit by their share of the Bill. Maybe give them 2nd thoughts about leaving.

The £230 billion price was discussed on the news yesterday.

Scotland won’t be hit. They will get “Barnett Consequences” of about 9% to spend there as they wish.

They are looking to build a vanity project to appease the North, whilst a bit of rough weather cuts off the single rail-line through Devon to Cornwall.

Tories need the north more for votes than the south west.

You're mostly Liberals down there

Its just another Tory vanity project, If you recall the other day they said they were going to spend money undoing some of Beeching,s cuts, but the money that they said was available, when calculated out, would only work out at providing 25 miles of new line for that. Stop HS2 and spend the money on the existing network and rolling stock.
