I recently splashed out £40 on a USB mini microscope [magnification up to 400X] ... there's another world out there, right under our noses ... it's a great little gadget!

I wonder if it will work when hooked up to an android tablet or Ipad2?

I wouldn't say that none of them are good value (though generally if you buy cheap, you get cheap) but none of them are of interest to me.
