'Keystone Cop' airport criticised

Ryanair has described Cornwall County Council as "Keystone Cops" over its handling of Newquay Airport and has cancelled its services from 1 December.

The airport will be without a licence until 19 December

I saw this coming for quite a while. Newquay Airport is essentially sharing RAF St. Mawgan with the RAF.

It's alway's been shabby, and devoid of any real security. I flew there a year or so back, and was allowed to simply walk through the gate with no checks at all.

It's a military base, and I think the decision was more the MOD's rather than Ryan Air's.

It's a military base in name only.

The local council were due to take over next week but it's been deferred for licensing reasons.

Very little MoD involvement now.
