If anyone's interested in knowing how many megaflops (millions of floating point operations per second) their CPU runs at you can use PerformanceTest 5.0 click here 30 day trial.

My Pentium M 740 1.73GHz managed 198.3 - compare that to 80 by a Cray-1 in 1976! (Assuming the results are comparable.)

Mine, AMD Athlon XP 3200+, managed 721.1Mflops earlier today when I first read the story.

Another wonderful word learnt today :)

  Indigo 1 14:18 30 Mar 2005

My Athlon XP2600 Barton core (O/C'd to equivalent 2800 Pentium 4) managed 486.6.

Compare that to Dan the Doctus' Pentium M 740 1.73GHz which managed 198.3 and Mr Mistoffelees AMD Athlon XP 3200+, which managed 721.1Mflops.

I still don't know what it means though 8-)
