I must confess it doesn't comcern me an awful lot.

What he and other MPs got was a legitimate allowance, which, due to rocketing property values has provided a nice bonus.

It is not a lot different to many public service employees, like the Police for example, where a Chief Officer can get nearly the same as an MP in rent allowance.
