As part of the UK's aid budget, the Department for International Development (DfID) will give India £52m this year and a further £46m in 2019/20.

Just what the hell is going on?

I agree but in term of GDP I think our 0.7% we give is among the highest of world nations. In the EU only Sweden, Norway, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Denmark give a higher %. The US gives only 0.17%.
