The housing format looks very French to me?
It does have that look about it, but the original farmhouse building looks Kentish to me.

Hmmm...It looks like a courtyard type building, uniform windows, no bars, so sanatorium is out of the picture.Kinda Roman feel to it, the clock tower maybe the clue...Tesco's...?

I think this is an example of a farmstead. Usually part of a larger estate. click here and read Chapter 2 particularly the ideal plan 2.16 onwards.
Having read quite a lot of the report I tend to agree with you. However, I don't think we will be able to positively identify it unless someone actually knows the place first-hand.
