Thought it might have been Burton Hall Tarporley however shape seems to be wrong.

Struggling to make out the writing does it say its now a farm or it was a Rectory?

  Brumas 14:58 13 Dec 2014

*Fruit Bat /\0/*, This is an old Elizabethan House which is now a very beautiful Farm, not far from the Rectory.

Based on the 'Chester' postmark there is an 'Old Rectory' care home (Google maps CH1 6HN) quite near to Chester, can't locate any lookalike farms though. There is a fairly new estate 'Manorfarm Crescent, nearby but as yet not been able to find what might have been there. Out of interest, can anyone work out what the book is?

Ration Book, perhaps.

The first part of the message says - Just a reminder to you to be sure and bring your ration book with you.

I have come across this Manor Farm but I think there are too many differences, unless there have been extensive alterations since 1949. I've also a feeling, since petrol rationing was still in force, it's a bit far from Chester.

it was the chimney arrangement that I thought was similar
