Fuel cost to spark airline bankruptcies!!

I am not supprised to be honest, i went to buy a flight to france last week & the price was only £10 via ryanair BUT then the tax's was £26..!!!
Whats going on..??
i know even at that price its cheap but come on..!!!

The taxes are fixed by the government.

What's more you may pay only £10 for the ticket, but extras such as charging for additional/overweight luggage etc may/will bump up the price quite sharply.

A standard return British Airways fare between Heathrow/Gatwick and Nice in the early to mid-1990s used to cost £588.

a few weeks ago british airways wanted £210 each surcharge on top of the fare heathrow to cantania [italy]. had to decline the offer could not see how they could justify it nor could the travel agent.
