A couple of points appear to be causing confusion

  Forum Editor 08:38 14 Jan 2020

so, for the sake of those of you who are fairly new to the forums I thought I would clarify...

If you see a post that is quite obviously spam, send me an email - your message will contain a link to the post in question, and I can deal with it. Post a quick note to the thread, saying you have notified me. Something along the lines of 'spam post by XYZ - FE notified'.

If you receive email notifications about posts to your thread you will, of course, get one when the spammer adds his or her post. By the time you go back to your thread I may have deleted the post, and you'll see no new additions. Sometimes that puzzles people but if it happens to you don't worry, it's just me going about my business.

Sometimes an argument develops in a thread, and people post offensive comments about each other. If I think it's getting out of hand I'll delete the posts, and any others which might subsequently appear odd if they refer to a dispute that's no longer visible. Again, you may get multiple email notifications but see no new posts when you visit your thread.

If you're in doubt about any aspects of forum behaviour or etiquette email me, and I'll bring you up to speed.
