These former small coral atolls, supposedly owned by other countries have, over the years and still continuing, been covered and raised to form large islands with runways and harbours. Though the Chinese have previously ratified various treaties which forbid such a development it nevertheless continues at pace. story here

I very much doubt there will be any action from the United Nations to curb this development now - do you? TC.

There will be no effective action. If a country is big enough and nasty enough and if its government doesn't care what the rest of the world thinks about it, then it will get away with anything.
