Checking your car's MoT (& history)

  WhiteTruckMan 18:46 23 May 2010

Just been paying my car tax online. Its the first time for me for this car after I recently bid farewell to my trusty old vectra diesel, and I got a little sidetracked by discovering that not only could I check my current MoT, but also the test history, including reasons for failures. It's all free and I found it quite interesting especially as I didnt really know the track record of my new jalopy.

Although the registration plate shows 53 my vehicle was registered on the last day of Jan 04.
So I can call my vintage machine as a six year old instead of seven. Might be worth a hundred squids more then.
Ta for the link.

don't forget that registration runs for 6 months at a time, so a 53 plate could be registered anytime up to 29th feb, 04!

The DVLA have been providing that service just after they went computerised, but it hasn't been broadcast much. There are other establishments that will allow you to check your vehicle, if you have a genuine reason to do so. Here's one click here
