Speed is not the most important factor for me in choosing a browser, but it is important to some users, especially those on slow connections.

I never really thought about it before, but I've been experimenting with Elinks which is a text based browser run from the command line and comparing it with Opera. Opera is only about 1 second slower opening a new page than Elinks, considering the author mentions Opera is optimised for Windows and I'm running Linux, that's quite impressive.
