Is this another "Night of the long knives"?

It is said that 12 "male and pale" Cabinet members are going , to make way for a bevy of "Cameron's Babes". A desperate political move, or common sense to promote women? It has shades of Macmillan ,52 years ago, see:

Night of long knives

I was surprised that he got rid of Hague. He struck me as a competent and globally respected Foreign Secretary of the same calibre in modern times as Douglas Hurd.

It's not really a position to jazz up for the short term, even if he really was intending to stand down, he was in the right job for this government.

There's an election due - time to "pretty up" the party to attract the voters.

or am I being a little to cynical?

Night of the long knives?

It's a cabinet re-shuffle in advance of a General election - nothing new in that.

Does he only write about Williams...?

Hague's voice was a political asset; Old Etonian drawls will be avoided where possible to appease those that dislike the numbers from that school surrounding Cameron.

If Gow is moved it looks like appeasement towards the teachers.

Mr Mistoffelees

It didn't work because you formatted it in italics.

Type your text, highlight it, click on the B symbol in the formatting bar, and your text will be enclosed within two stes of double asterisks. Italic formatting has one asterisk.

Mr Mistoffelees

Just type in the asterisks yourself.

I just did that, and your post now has Fruit bat's name in bold.
