Zoom Modem Problems

I recently bought a Zoom USB ADSL modem to use with my Waitrose.com broadband connection. As far as I'm aware it's one of those cheap modems that makes the computer 'think it's on dial-up' (apologies for the lack of technical vocabulary) ie, you've got to start the connection manually when you log on. This isn't a problem . The problem I do have, however is the fact that the internet connection disappears three or four minutes after connecting, forcing me to reconnect. Any ideas?

In IE go to Tools/Internet Options/Connections tab and check Never Dial a Connection - click Apply and OK.
