Now that Zonealarm doesn't support W98, can anyone recommend a good (free) firewall in its palce?

I don't think that the current version of Kerio is compatible with W98.

This is an older version which works well with W98:

My understanding (possibly limited) is that Zone Alarm is just not supported with Windows 98 anymore, just like W98 is not supported by Microsoft anymore. It doesn't mean that it won't work.

If I'm wrong, you could always use an earlier version click here - firewalls are not like anti-virus programs; it isn't important to have the latest version.

Why not stick with an older version of ZoneAlarm?

............I have ZoneAlarm Free v. 2.6.362 on my old Win98 box and I am still on 5.5.094 on my XP box.

Sygate 5.5 runs really well on 98 , make sure though it is 5.5 not 5.6 which wasn't so good , if you click here you'll find several versions .
