This is not a problem, but thought that it might be helpful for the forum. Yesterday AVG update scan was massive according to my system Windows 98. After finishing update it would not let me log off, and the system froze, after 3-4 attempts I switched the whole system down from my mains. After 5 mins. I switched back on and went into safe mode, scandisk a couple of times. It finally is working fine now,but it was a bit frustrating for someone who is still learning the nuances of computing. Regards esso.

Don't know if you've used a switch off followed by ScanDisk much before but I find it a great saver with 98SE. (touch wood).

I hope I have helped someone, as they say if just one person has learned and been helped then the forum is a very useful resource. Thanks for the feedback. Regards esso.
