had the same problem last week as well

1 Start your computer by using windows xp by using windows xp cd-rom or floppy discs

2 At the "welcome screen" press either F10 or R

3 Press C to start recovery console

4 copy the NTLDR file from the windows XP cd-rom as follow (you may have to do this in caps lock)

A Type "cd .." (without the quotes)to go to the root of C drive (note the space between the d and the 2 full stops (cd ..)

B Type the letter of the cd-rom drive

C Type "cd i386" (without the quotes)

D Type "Copy ntldr c:" (without the quotes)

E Type "Exit" (without the quotes)

forgot to say you need to go into the BIOS

when restarting start tapping the delete key

Now you are in the BIOS

Change the 1st boot device to CD-ROM
