Hi, I am using Windows XP and keep getting a message on bootup stating that my system file is corrupt or missing. I have to go to the repair console and copy the sam, system, security files etc from backup to bring my desktop up and then restore my system from a previous backup point. Initially when this happened, I reinstalled XP from scratch but it keeps happening. Thankfully, the workaround was on the Microsoft knowledge base but there is no description of the cause. Can anyone tell me why this keeps happening?

Thanks, Lee.

My Computer > Right click your "C" Drive > Tools > Error Checking > Check Now > Check both boxes > Start...

See if it throws up anything.
