XP Search companion

has a missing file, may need to use set up

Can only use whilst online

As I do not have windows cd as it did not come with the pc, can I rectify this so that companion can be used whilst offline

Start, Run, sfc /scannow will check your files.

Do you have a Recovery Disk? If so you will need to follow click here

did the above and got the message that "file could not be found" make sure you have typed/spelled it correctly

The only cd that I got with the pc was one that had Encarta etc on it. HP computers dont come with cd's......tried to find an earlier posting with the above reason but cant find it

any other tips you have would be appreciated

ran the start, Run, scf /scannow twice (Windows File Protection)

Do I now assume as I got no result that all is ok
