XP Pro: Right click and save picture as.. issues

I have searched for a solution to this and cannot 'see the wood for the trees'

I Have XP pro and when I right click and choose the Save Picture As option I can ONLY save pictures as .bmp files. There is no other option. 99% of the time I can live with this as I can convert to j.peg using MS paint (although for some reason Irfanviw will not convert them).

Does anyone have a fix for this. I obviously checked (or unchecked) a box during install and the situation is bugging me a bit. I cannot, for instance, save animated gifs.

On a side note/related issue; I have Inccredimail both at home and work. At work I can save pictures to Incredimail and use them in my emails. That option is not available on right click at home.
