XP Pro disk question

  adrian.d 23:04 04 Apr 2007

I have recently bought another pc, not new but with XP Pro SP2 installed but no cd or sticker on the case. Alls well at present but fear the worst if I hit problems and need to reinstall. I have used a small utility to obtain my product key and product id from Windows. Also Windows update is ok so I guess its a proper validated version.

Just wondering what my options are regarding obtaining another cd (doubtful I guess) or failing that buying a new Windows XP Pro licence or upgrading to Vista.

Any thoughts on the best and hopefully least costly way to go with this one?

You need to get Acronis True Image And create a Image while the Computer is OK. You can then use that as a Recovery. You need another Partition or External Drive to save Images to. Although you can save them in Compressed format to DVD

Thanks for that Woodchip, makes sense.. I'll see if I can pick up a copy. I've an 80gb external drive i can copy to.
Its probably a common occurence these days with lots of computers changing hands regularly and folks holding onto their os licences.
