XP, Partition Strategy, Location of Program Files?

I re-formatted my hard drive for the first time. I found some advice to put XP in its own 3.9 Gig partition. I did that and now am concerned that that will not be large enough. I have a 40 Gig hard drive. If I load "Program Files" to the remaining 36 Gig partition will I be OK for space for XP? Will having "Program Files" on a drive differnt than the XP OS cause any problems? Can I make the 36 Gig partition the default location for installing programs? I know, I should have asked these questions BEFORE I did it. Philbert

Yes but it may still be too small as every program you load to D:\ still writes files and registry on C:\

As you have done what you have done, I suggest you turn off System Restore, and Create a Image of C:\drive with Acronis True Image as a safe backup create the Image when you have got the main programs on that you normally run
