Are your hard drives detected in BIOS?

Can you see them on the first screen as you switch on the PC?

Can you see them on the first screen as you switch on the PC?

Did you get a disk with the drive? something to set it up / format it?

I got no disk.... just the new hard drive..... I installed XP on it a few days back...... it failed at the last 13 minutes... now it starts up...i see the XP Pro startup screen..... then followed by the BLUE screen of death..... Just put in a the same and a DIFFERENT XP OS and startup never gets to the USER AGREEMENT... it freezes and hangs on "Examining Startup Environment".

Thanks..... Neil

Start the install again and make sure you select

format the partition

I know what you mean... but the installation never gets that far...... its asks me to choose NEW installation, repair, etc.... I choose NEW... it boots into life and stops at "Examining Startup Environment".

Do you have a floppy drive?

And a bootable floppy disk?

Bootable floppies from click here

boot from a floppy and format the drive, then reinstall from CD.

Have you got any USB devices plugged in? If so remove them and try installing again.
