XP freezing

  fonkets 14:26 01 Apr 2007

Hi all.

I am having problems with XP as it keeps freezing. There seems to be no consistency as to why it freezes......... it just happens out of the blue, even if nothing is running!!

Any help gratefully received.

ps this is a genuine version and my pc has 512mb ram and a 2ghz processor, so I doubt its performance based problem.

512MB is a bit thin for XP; but I'd be more inclined to suspect overheating. Are all your fans working OK?

fans seem to be whirling away nicely.

I'd try something like this click here

CPU is -58c and case is 35c

I'd do some Googling and see if that's high for your CPU but it sounds ok to me.

Have you installed anything recently? How long have you been having the freezing problems?

Is -58c right. Thats very chilly.....antarctic chilly !!!

I have installed a couple of things, but nothing extraordinary and I recently defragged and scan for bugs frequently.

-58c does seem very chilly. Maybe you should try another program to check temperatures.

What about a registry fix?
