XP firewall any good

  Nessie 08:13 12 Jul 2004

I have latest version of freebee zonealarm. This will not work with a network. Is xp firewall all right or would I be better to upgrade zonealarm to pro or buy something else or is there another free app that does support a network. Thanks

XP firewall is ok at stopping entry to your computer, but lets programmes out.

However, XPSP2 is out shortly and will let you control which programmes you "let out"

Of course ZoneAlarm will work with a network - free or paid for version.....:-))

ZA is also superior to the current version of XP's firewall in many respects.

Disable XP and use ZA. A bit more info and downloads click here

It seems that ZA does not support ICS as described on the link

You can try it...

but if not Windows XP firewall is brill for incoming attacks, but slightly 'poor' on outgoing.
