Hi folks, I have IBM with K6-2 192Mb ram and 4.3 HDD (and 30 Gb secondary HDD) running 98se. Will this be able to use XP?

You need more RAM what AMD CPU

I would say it will run it although more ram would be a good idea as xp eats ram,so u may find it slowing down when a lot of apps are running and u didnt say what speed the cpu was and what other bits you have connected that may or may not be xp compatable.

Personally, with that setup I would reformat with 98. It will save you a lot of hassle and the computer will behave like new.

I'm with Gandalf on this too. I've put Win XP on a PC with Intel PIII 500MHz (overclocked to 566), 256Mb SDRAM and a 7200RMP Hard drive but it took a long time to do anything when more than one application was open. With a clean setup Windows 98 will zip along. Save XP for when you can afford a better PC.

thanks folks. Max ram is 256. Speed is 400MHz. I've several extra bits connected which all work. As I've no 98cd I'll have to recover it with the disc provided when purchased
